Every year around this time (Thanksgiving, for those reading this is the far-flung future) - I am reminded of NBC's annual airing of
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Why did they air
Wonka on Thanksgiving? I guess they figured kids would be allowed to stay up and watch, since most of them had the next day off. In any case, I always watched and loved it.
There are lots of sequences in the film worth obsessing about, but none has captured the imagination of the general public quite like Wonka's angry spiel at the end toward Charlie and "Grandpa Joe" ("You get nothing!..."You Lose!"..."Good Day, Sir!").
Here's a
remix of the scene. I, for one, can't take my eyes off it.
