The Shaggs

More "Outsider Music" - as we look at Fremont, New Hampshire's Dot, Betty, Helen (and sometimes Rachel) - The Shaggs. This is the band that Frank Zappa famously ranked as #3 "Best in History" in 1988.

The Shaggs were formed at the insistence of their father, Austin, who believed that his Mother foresaw the band's rise to fame and fortune. Their only album, Philosophy of the World, was released in 1969 - and was not a hit. However, the sisters stayed together as a popular local band until their father's death in 1975.

Listen to the girls perform "It's Halloween". And when you're finished with that - read all about them on their official web site.
