Here's Barry McGuire singing Eve of Destruction on Hullaboo or some such show.The song warns of imminent apocalypse - pretty sophisticated stuff for 1965. It was so controversial that the Byrds refused to record it, and the conservative media often cited it as an example of everything that was wrong with the youth of the day.
It contains one of my favorite lyrics of all-time:
Hate your next-door neighbor... but don't forget to say grace.
