You're going to be seeing a lot of these between now and November - maps that predict how the electoral votes will go in the upcoming Presidential election.This one is based on the Intrade Prediction Market. I never heard of them, either - but supposedly they make their forecasters put up money, then reward the ones who predict correctly.
Anyway, I'm amazed at how influential the handful of coastal states are at selecting the President. To look at this map, you might assume Red is trouncing Blue - but look at the totals.
Seems to me like the Midwest might as well just stay home.
