Wacky Packages

Time to look back at the Wacky Packages phenomenon.

Wacky Packages were stickers made by Topps in the 1970's. They contained spoofs of commercial products that - in retrospect - weren't very imaginative (Quacker Oats..?) - but were HI-LARIOUS when I was nine.

These things were huge - kids stuck them everywhere. And Topps deliberately staggered the way they were released so that it cost a small fortune to "collect 'em all". (I was up to my ass in "Weakies", but never was able to get "Band-Ache").

According to the site, Topps has been making new cards since 2004. Who knew?
