Human League - "Don't You Want Me"

The time is 1982. A young Golem hears "Don't You Want Me" by Human League on Top 40 radio for the first time, and immediately declares it to be the greatest song that ever had or ever will be performed by human kind.

Of course I was wrong, but not that wrong. It was #1 in the U.S and U.K. - and is still in the Top 25 all-time selling singles in the U.K.

And if you think the male pop singers of today lack testosterone, you should have seen Phil Oakey (above) - who based his look on Sean Young's character from Blade Runner. Before you get the wrong idea about Phil, you should know he was having it off with the dark-haired girl singer in the band - Joanne Catherall - who was probably 19 when this clip was shot.

As for whatever German pop show this clip was made, I guess they liked to stick their shoes in cement or something. Not sure what that's all about.
